RATED EXCELLENT

Not all virtual offices are created equal

When you're starting a business, keeping costs predictable matters. Before choosing a virtual office, it's worth checking what's included, how your post is handled, whether there are any set-up fees and how easily you can manage or cancel your subscription. Here's how some of the options compare.

Virtual Office or Registered Office Address?

Your Virtual Office gives you a professional trading address to use on your website, invoices and other business communications. When eligible business post arrives, it’s handled and made available through your Virtually There Portal.

If your startup is a limited company and you also want to use your Virtually There address with Companies House, you’ll need to add our Registered Office Address service.

With a Registered Office Address, you can:

  • Use your Virtually There address as your company’s registered office with Companies House
  • Receive the statutory Companies House and HMRC post covered by that service
  • Keep your registered office separate from your trading address, or use the same location for both services
  • Manage both services through your Virtually There account

Keep your home address separate from your business

Starting a business from home doesn’t mean you have to use your home address across your website, invoices and day-to-day business communications. A Virtual Office gives your startup a separate professional business address instead.

If you also want to keep your home address from being used as your company’s registered office, you can add our Registered Office Address service and use your Virtually There address with Companies House.

  • Every subscriber completes the required ID and AML checks before their address becomes active, takes around 5 minutes.
  • Access scanned mail securely through your Virtually There Portal
  • Keep your home address separate from your customer-facing business communications
  • Add a Registered Office Address if you also want to use your Virtually There location with Companies House

Take a look around

Virtually There Customer Portal

Start with what you need. Add more when you need it.

You don’t need to build your whole setup on day one. Start with the services that make sense for your business now, then add more as your company changes and grows.

Starting your business

Choose a Virtual Office for a professional trading address you can use on your website, invoices and day-to-day business communications. It gives your startup a consistent UK business address without the cost of permanent office space, while your post is handled through your Virtually There Portal.

Registered Office address service

If you form a limited company and want to use your Virtually There address as your official Companies House address, you can add our Registered Office Address service. This keeps your trading address and registered office together if that’s the setup you prefer, while making sure the right service is in place for Companies House and statutory correspondence.

Growing your business

As your startup grows, the support you need may change too. You might start out managing everything yourself, then reach a point where calls, admin and day-to-day enquiries begin taking more time away from the work that actually moves the business forward.

That’s where you can add services such as Call Answering, Virtual Receptionist or Virtual PA support. There’s no need to commit to them from the start. Add them when they become useful and build a setup that works around the way your business is growing.

FAQs to help you choose

Can I use my Virtually There address as my registered office when I incorporate?

Yes. You can start with a Virtual Office and use it as your business trading address before you incorporate. If you later form a limited company and want to use your Virtually There address with Companies House, you can add our Registered Office Address service.

Can I keep my home address off Companies House?

Yes, if you add our Registered Office Address service. This allows you to use your Virtually There location as your company’s registered office instead of your home address.

A standard Virtual Office is for your trading address and cannot be used on its own as your Companies House registered office.

How is my post handled?

We’ll receive post sent to your Virtual Office address and make scanned mail available through your Portal. Your subscription includes 10 free mail scans each month, with additional scans available when you need them. Companies House and HMRC post can only be processed if you have a Registered Office Address service.

Can I add more services as my startup grows?

Yes. You can add other Virtually There services as your business grows, including Registered address, Call Answering, Virtual Receptionist and Virtual PA support. There’s no need to add services before you actually need them.

What is the difference between a virtual office and a registered office address?

A virtual office is a trading address for you to use on your business website, marketing materials, invoices, business cards, directories and more.

A registered office address is your company’s official address given when registering your company with Companies House.

You can use our business addresses for both purposes by selecting the registered office address add-on when subscribing to a Virtual Office.
